About the Role

 

We're looking for an experienced Trailer Service Technician III to join our fleet maintenance team. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for repairing, restoring, and maintaining trailers, box trucks, and other fleet equipment to ensure they are safe, reliable, and operating at peak performance.

 

Success in this position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship. You'll perform a variety of repairs, including welding, body work, painting, mechanical repairs, inspections, and vehicle upfitting while helping maintain a safe and efficient shop environment.

 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain compliance with all OSHA regulations, company policies, and safety procedures to promote a safe and productive work environment.
  • Perform repairs, maintenance, and inspections on trailers, box trucks, and other fleet equipment.
  • Complete trailer and box truck upfitting projects, including the installation of liftgates, truck bodies, storage systems, and related equipment.
  • Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting and vinyl installation through proper cleaning, sanding, masking, and finishing techniques to ensure a professional, high-quality appearance.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment for damage, wear, and mechanical issues, utilizing appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques to identify required repairs.
  • Perform body repair, welding, painting, and basic mechanical work in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
  • Collaborate with the Parts Department to identify, order, and install necessary parts, ensuring repairs are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
  • Verify the quality and completeness of all repairs prior to returning vehicles and equipment to service.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while properly caring for tools, equipment, and company assets.
  • Assist with additional fleet maintenance, repair or finishing projects as assigned.

Qualifications

What You’ll Need

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5-8 years of experience in vehicle repair, fleet maintenance, body work, or a related field.
  • Experience with trailers, box trucks, welding, painting, and vehicle upfitting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle repair techniques, body repair processes, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to safely operate welding equipment, repair tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality repairs and workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication skills and a safety-first mindset.
