The Manager of Transportation Safety is responsible for the management of the corporate safety and compliance policy / program.  This role ensures the day-to-day compliance with Atlas policies and rules, State and Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and guidelines governing driver and vehicle safety including, but not limited to, van operator qualification, hours of service regulations, drug and alcohol testing, equipment qualification, CSA scores, and the Atlas Safety program.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivers a high level of customer service with the department team members, agents, and van operators.
  • Maintains current knowledge on all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and ensures that each staff member is maintaining current knowledge of regulations that govern their area of expertise.
  • Ensures that internal policies and procedures are being followed and enforced with both the internal staff and externally with the agents and drivers.
  • Staff management, performance reviews and payroll.
  • Ensure group is following all FMCSRs, other regulations and company rules day-to-day.
  • Can train employees on departmental systems both internal and external.
  • Follows up on and/or handles escalated items.
  • Will occasionally handle after hours accident intake calls.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5-7 years of job-related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience are required.
  • Previous experience managing a team is required.
  • DOT compliance knowledge is required.
