The Information Technology team at Atlas Van Lines is looking for an organized, seasoned, and professional individual to join us as a Lead Software Engineer. As a Lead Software Engineer with Atlas, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and direction to a team of experienced software engineers tasked with building high-performance enterprise-level solutions. You are expected to, and have the freedom to, research and recommend new tools and solutions we can apply to our software development life cycle and CI/CD release pipelines.


What You’ll Do

  • Works with clients, technical product owners and the development team to design, develop, test, and implement new custom software systems and solutions to support Atlas’ business.
  • Promotes modern software design techniques and contributes to the technical design of new solutions.
  • Ensures that quality results from the team are delivered on time.
  • Coaches and mentors other team members.
  • Facilitates business process changes to take advantage of new system capabilities and improve productivity.
  • Directs and participates in code reviews of ongoing and existing system modules.
  • Leads the evaluation of new tools and methodologies for Atlas.
  • Maintains the status of projects in project management tracking systems.
  • When appropriate, develops, with the supervisor or Product Owner and customer, a Request for Proposal (RFP) to evaluate the purchase of commercial off the shelf (COTS) systems.

Other Experience You’ll Need

  • Successfully led software teams and mentored junior engineers
  • Fascination with learning new tools, languages, philosophies, and workflows
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, partners, and vendors
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing software solutions
  • Competent using version control tools like TFVC or Git
  • Experience using project management tools like Azure DevOps or Jira

What Could Set You Apart

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent field
  • 8+ years of job-related experience or combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with establishing and maintaining CI/CD release pipelines
